one intuitive software platform
the r&s®pulse sequencer software is used to generate the waveform files or multi segment waveform files. the generated waveform files can be stored on the local hard diskc or can be transmitted directly to the assigned signal generator if the respective r&s®smbvb-k350 software option is installed on the signal generator.

the r&s®pulse sequencer software has an intuitive and clearly structured graphical user interface. the menu bar in the gui includes all the commonly used drop down menus with settings for working with the software. the toolbar gives users quick access to a new or to existing repositories for maintaining and managing them. a wizard helps users to quickly configure signals by automatically going to all the dialogs necessary. on the left side of the gui, user have access to all the items needed to setup the scenario, such as defined pulses, sequences and inter pulse modulation profiles. the main screen shows the configured scenario and includes all the details for generating the signal. the figure belows shows a sequence scenario that is being configured. the waveform generation dialog is automatically configured but can also be accessed by the user to manually change waveform parameters like the oversampling factor. after signal generation, the waveform is stored in the volatile memory and can also be saved to and reloaded from the repository. the signal generator to be used to generate the configured scenario at the desired carrier frequency can be selected from a group of predefined instruments in the vsg block.

in the repository tree, all the configured items (scenarios, sequences, pulses, etc.) are stored and become visible after they have been expanded. each item can be reused in different scenarios. in addition, the configured signal generator(s) to be used for waveform generation are listed here.
