edge evolution (sometimes also called edge or egprs2) is an enhancement of the gsm/edge standard to increase the maximum data throughput of the existing gsm/edge network by means of minor modifications. the improvements include downlink dual carrier operation, higher-order modulation (16qam, 32qam) in combination with an optional higher symbol rate and turbo coding, latency improvements, and the use of rx diversity at the mobile station. depending on the features applied, peak data rates of up to 1 mbit/s will be achieved.
the r&s®afq-k241 option extends the r&s®afq-k240 gsm/edge option to edge evolution.
